NOTICE: King Shocks *Updated May 2022*: 2013-2018 G550 (non-AMG) models only require minor trimming to fit the King Shocks into the front wheel well. 2013-2018 G63 (AMG) models will require that the front driver top secondary bracket on the frame of the G is cut off to fit these shocks. If you have a G550 in this year range, only slight modification. If you have a G63, you will have to cut a bracket off entirely to fit. It has been long standing thought that this was necessary on all 2013-2018 models but after further investigation, only the G63 requires the serious modification to fit the King Shocks. For all G Wagons 2012 and older, only slight trimming of the wheel well liner is required to run the remote reservoir. THIS IS ONLY FOR KING SHOCKS. OTHER OPTIONS SHOULD NOT REQUIRE MODIFICATION. Please contact us for availability as there is limited supply and lead time varies.
This is a 2 inch lift kit for your Mercedes G Wagon W463 models up to 2018. Actual ride height gained may vary for your vehicle based on model and weight added to the vehicle. Available for all models through 2018.
For 2019 and newer 463A (also referred to as 464) models, please see our "Suspension" section and look for items labeled "463A" for 2019 and newer models, here:
https://jackwagonoverlanding.com/collections/suspension/463a
This lift kit will give your vehicle a more aggressive stance, higher ground clearance to the vehicle body, and more droop/down travel compared to the factory suspension. To raise the axles of the truck, larger diameter tires (or portal axles...) are also required. We recommend tire sizes between 33x11" - 33x12.5" (or metric equivalent tires) depending on your wheel width with an offset no higher than +30 for best results. This would mean adding a 30mm wheel spacer to most stock wheels. While some clients run 2 inch lifts with higher offsets (narrower stance), adding wheel spacers or a lower offset (wider stance) wheel would not only prevent rubbing but will also improve stability as you raise the center of gravity of your G. With this kit, we aim to provide a functional and capable setup that not only looks good but also functions without issues once you get on the trails.
This is the perfect lift amount for those wanting to minimize additional necessary pieces to get their G Wagon off the ground, increase down travel/droop, and those that may have overall height clearance restrictions. For G Wagons, lifts beyond 2 inches will *require* caster correction, alignment correction, longer brake lines, and may need additional adjustments as well.
Items Included:
- Set of 4 Springs (JWO/ORC/OME)
- Set of 4 Shocks (Koni/Fox/King/Ohlins)
-
Fox Steering Stabilizer w/ Extension Bracket (Always Included)
- H&R Wheel Spacers (none/30mm/50mm)
The spring options in this package are the JWO 2" Springs (Steel Gray), ORC/Eibach Springs (Blue), and the ARB Old Man Emu "OME" Springs (Black). Our JWO 2" Springs are currently only offered in one version that is meant for all LWB V8 models and heavy diesel engine models, as well as trucks with a front steel bumper/winch setup and/or rear steel bumper. ORC and OME both offer a Standard and Heavy Duty option front spring. Their rears are universal/one size fits all. The standard options are for models without a steel winch bumper with a V6 or smaller engine and SWB models. The heavy duty options are for models with a steel bumper/winch setup and/or V8 and heavy diesel engine models. Although these are classified as "heavy duty" they are not any stiffer than the "standard" versions. The only difference is the height they provide to the front axle to accommodate the various models. The JWO Springs provide a 50mm lift and are designed to provide an overall "soft" yet "tight" ride feel when the stiffer primary rear spring rate is active and a softer off road feel once the softer secondary rear spring rate is activated. With the stiffer rear spring rate active at ride height, this also minimizes torque steer, body roll, and sagging when weight is added. Once the softer secondary rate becomes active, this minimizes the bumpiness and harsh feel during off road use. The ORC springs provide a 40mm lift and are softer, similar to non AMG springs, to allow for a more comfortable ride on and off road. The OME springs provide a 50mm lift and are stiffer, similar to the AMG springs, which allows for improved overland excursions where there is a heavy load in the rear of the truck at all times but can make for a harsh ride if the truck is not heavily equipped. The JWO and ORC springs offer similar free (uncompressed) lengths at the front axle but the JWO springs offer the most extension in the rear axle of all three options for optimal down travel and flex. The OME Springs are the shortest of the three options in the front and rear which can minimize some down travel.
The shock options are the Koni Raid (Red), Fox 2.0 Adjustable (Silver), King 2.5 Adjustable (Silver/Black), and Ohlins Two-Way Adjustable (Silver/Gold) Shocks. The Fox and King shocks come with an adjustable knob that allows you to adjust the rebound and compression stiffness of your ride together at any time. The Ohlins 2-Way Adjustable Shocks come with not just one but two adjusters per shock that allow for fine adjustments to the compression and rebound independently - by far the most customizable of the bunch. The Koni Raid shocks are semi-adjustable as they can only be adjusted by twisting the shock while it is uninstalled from the vehicle. Koni has the largest body diameter of the bunch followed by King, with Fox and Ohlins at the smallest.
We can also offer the Bilstein B4, Bilstein B6, Bilstein B8 5160 shocks and Old Man Emu Nitrocharger shocks upon request however we typically recommend Koni Raids in place of these choices as they are in the same budget and provide a better range of dampening ability with their beefier build and semi-adjustability.
Things to Consider (sold separate on our website):
-
Caster Correction Offset Bushings - Once you get to 2 inches of lift, you will notice your caster has changed when you go to have the alignment checked. At 2 inches of lift, the caster remains positive, and may still be good enough as is, but it will be lower than the factory setting. This can cause the truck to decrease in handling ability and cause for more work while steering. A set of caster correction offset bushings will adjust your caster by roughly 3.5 degrees and get you back near factory setting.

-
Adjustable Panhard Bars - As your truck goes up in height, the axles and wheels will begin to shift towards the drivers side of the vehicle due to suspension and steering geometry. In doing so, you will notice that the driver side tires poke out more while the passenger side tires tuck in more. Aesthetically, this can be annoying but it can also cause your G to have some lean to it. Again, at two inches of lift, this may not be noticeable to some but it does happen. To correct this, you can get a custom fixed length set of panhard bars or use a set of adjustable panhard bars that can be set for any lift height.

-
Extended Brake Lines - For lifts 50mm (2 inch) and beyond with longer shocks added, we recommend extended brake and locker lines. As your G increases its maximum droop or extension length, your brake lines will be pushed to the limits. As you go beyond 2 inches of lift, especially if seriously off roading or adding custom extended length shocks, these should be considered to prevent brake and lockers lines from being over stretched and failing.

Any of the recommended parts purchased to go with a 2 inch lift can be reused should you decide to go to a 4 inch lift later on. At the 4 inch lift range, these recommended additions become required.
*Although this kit is all inclusive and capable of functional on and off road use, we strongly encourage using caution (as you always should) during the installation and use of this kit. Please familiarize yourself with all parts provided and the new handling of the vehicle immediately. Jack Wagon Overlanding, LLC will not be held responsible for any problems, damages, losses, or faults that come with or after the installation of this kit.
*With any tire size increase, the speedometer will show a lower speed than you are actually travelling. Older models may be able to reprogram the tire size in the computer to correct speedometer but with newer models, MB limits this ability. Depending on the tire size and wheel offset you go with, it is still possible for some rubbing to happen in extreme conditions.
Navigating through all of this information can be difficult so if you are still unsure of which setup is best for you, please email us at JackWagonOverlanding@gmail.com and we will be happy to help guide you through the right setup for your needs!
